Susan Marie and Olive Illustrated by Kim Ranson and Rebekah Phillips
What is friendship?
What does it mean to all of us? Susan and Miss Olive have written a children’s picture book answering these questions to the best of their abilities. The main character of Miss Olive is a little dog what wants to belong to a family and a gain a friend. Miss Olive has many surprises coming her way throughout the story. There are a few issues that will be seen by our Miss Olive.
The illustrations drawn by Kim and Rebekah were drawn with children in mind. They mainly chose the color Pink to establish the fact that Miss Olive is a girl to go along with a few other facets of the story. My favorite pictures were the scenes at the park, especially the birthday party and when Miss Olive tries to make friends and find that one special one. The actual written words were shown as manuscript lettering, so readers could that feel that this children’s book could be a child’s or pet’s diary, and not just another book of typed words. The cover art emits a happiness in many ways.
