Camille KNOWS what book she’s looking for, but wants to know why she can’t purchase it…
She asks:
Hi, Maryse!
I love Reader Questions and I am hoping that you can help me with a mystery I am curious about.
I am so eager to read Katherine Allred’s book What Price Paradise, but it is really hard to find any copies.
I haven’t seen a digital version online (admittedly, I only have only read Kindle and Apple digital books, so other formats are a bit foreign to me), and the print copies I have come across are very expensive (as in, almost 200$!!). I’m even struggling to have a copy interlibrary loaned to my local branch for a variety of reasons.
So, here is the mystery I am seeking your help with:
- why has this book essentially disappeared?
- Why isn’t it in a digital format?
- And do you have any ideas about ways I could get my hands on a copy that I haven’t thought of yet?
Thank you in advance for any guidance you and the blog readers may be able to offer up!
Love reading your blog!
That is a GREAT question. I know the same thing happened for awhile to her other book that we LOVED so much, “The Sweet Gum Tree” -in fact here is my 4.5 star review (and it has since been republished – in fact I think she now SELF publishes it – and has a new cover and everything… and it’s available as an ebook now too.
So maybe this one is changing publishers? Maybe she will self publish it, too? I will investigate!! 😀
Does anyone else have an idea?
Maryse: Okay here’s what I found so far (mind you, these updates were from a few years ago) but this seems like it’s something in the works. All of this is from the author’s Facebook page. She says:
– #amediting What Price, Paradise this time. Figured I’d better get a jump on it since it might take me a while.
Katherine Allred, Author Hi. At this point I have no idea when it will be available. Health problems (mine and hubby’s) has put a halt on just about everything book related. I’m hoping 2020 will be a better year, but we’ll have to wait and see. 43w ago)
Katherine Allred, Author Can’t give you a date, but I’m working on it. …just editing and fixing some things I didn’t like in the first version.
Katherine Allred, Author At the moment it’s not available. The publisher closed its doors and I have the rights back. I hope to republish it again, but my health problems and hubby’s keep getting in the way.
